Friday - My tent mates and I were woken up by Mrs. Walter, our club director, shaking our tent and yelling for us to get up. None of us really wanted to, but we had to if we wanted to get any breakfast. After we ate we went to the morning meeting. When we realized that there were real bathrooms near the meeting area, we were insanely happy because we were all disgusted by the porta potties. After the meeting my group’s leader, Casey, took us to the spring. None of us really knew what was going on because all we saw was a jumble of ropes wrapped around trees with two of them stretching across the water to the other side. We eventually found out that it was a way that people could be rescued if they were trapped or hurt. My friend, Lauren, was strapped into a stretcher and we were able to use the jumble of ropes to send her to the other side and then bring my other friend, Josh, back. After we did this, we went to TeenSpace, a place where teens could get together and just hang out. We started a huge Uno game, but it was taking so long we gave up and headed back to camp for lunch. After lunch we went to the water park and stood in the heat for a while before they would let us in. We were so happy to finally be able to cool off! After dinner we listened to the evening speaker, Tony Anobile. We then hung around and talked until we had wound down from the day and went to bed. |
