Folded Paper Ornaments

Materials:
six-inch square of origami paper
Mizuhiki paper cord
glue
transparent tape
jewels, beads - optional
photographs or stamped images cut to 1-3/4 inches square

Steps:

Ornament
(Make two for this project)

  1. Starting with color side down, crease the paper vertically, diagonally and horizontally.
  2. Cupboard fold to center.
  3. Keep the model folded and cupboard fold to the center again.
  4. Pull flaps from underneath all four points and flatten.
  5. Fold two points back. Now it should look like a pinwheel.
  6. Lift up all four flaps and flatten into squares.
  7. Fold four top layers to the outside.
  8. Lift a flap and fold back to the center. Repeat on remaining flaps.
  9. Fold the four triangle flaps to the outside and crease.

Assembly

  1. Cut two photos or stamped images to 1-3/4-inch square and insert into the frames
  2. Make a small loop with about eight inches of Mizuhiki cord and tape to the back of one frame.
  3. Glue the two folded frames back to back.
  4. Embellish with jewels or beads to finish.
